My Healing Journey Overview (in photos)

If you haven't been following my whole journey and are just interested in my overall experience and results with excision, I'd recommend reading this post, my history of symptoms post, as well as my 12.5 month update. If you're curious about the specifics of my excision recovery and want an in-depth description of the first few weeks post-op, I'd recommend reading my individual recovery posts (week 1 through 10).

Anyway, I thought it would be interesting to compile all of my photos and show together how my bloating, swelling, and scars have healed over the period of 1 year. It's actually quite dramatic.

Bloating/Swelling comparison

I think the first and last photos are a bloating comparison, and the middle photo shows more how I looked once the bloating was gone and the swelling from surgery had mostly gone done. The change over the course of a year was pretty dramatic—I no longer look pregnant. I made no significant changes to my diet or exercise routine, so this is not a weight change; it's just the bloating that's gone.

Scarring/Swelling comparison

I get asked on occasion how long it took before my scars looked XYZ or had healed to XYZ point, so I thought this photo time lapse would be useful to see how they healed up. Considering my tendency to get disfiguring scars, I'm incredibly pleased with how great these look now. The silicone and massages I did early on made a big difference.
